About
The Pawn and Prey zine is a horror themed Black Butler zine. No ships will be allowed in this zine. This will be a for profit zine.
Applications
We will be accepting 15 artists, 3 writers, 4 merch artists, and 3 cosplayers.
Artists
□We will be inviting 4 guest artists through nominations.
We do not require any fanart of black butler in your application. We only ask of 3 samples of your work and a portfolio ( at least 7 illustrations)
These samples need to include:
• one illustration needs to contain a background
•All samples need to be completed artworks, no WIPs.
These samples and portfolio can be on a google drive, but please make sure to make the folder viewable for us.
NSFW is ok to submit in applications. However we prefer not all samples are NSFW
Traditional art is allowed as long as it is scanned well and has clarity. Works will be rejected if they look blurry or are not even in lighting (too light and too dark is an issue too)
We are looking for a variety of styles but will be evaluating composition, color theory, skill in anatomy, etc.
Merch Artists
We will require 5 samples of merch (can be any kind) but no portfolio is needed.
Same rules concerning NSFW with merch artists.
These samples can also be on a google drive.
Writers
We will require 3 samples of your work.
These samples need to be:
•under 3,000 words, a little over is fine though.
•at least one sample does need to be about Black Butler so we can evaluate how well you can write the characters.
They can be finished fics or excerpts from longer fanfictions. If they are excerpts, make sure they have a clear beginning and end.
We are looking for skills such as telling and resolving a story effectively, how you write the characters, characterization, and fair use of grammar/diction.
We also want a link to your portfolio of your work.
Cosplayers
We ask for 3 samples of your work and a portfolio.
These samples can be on Google drive or social media.
•At least two samples need to be Black Butler .
•Two of your samples needs to contain a well constructed background/environment for your cosplay. (It can be as simple as a sheet, we just dont want to see your room or convention in the background).
In your work we are evaluating how well your cosplay is constructed, if the photos you supply contain an environment (background), if lighting is well done and even, if there is editing then it is done well, and composition.
